nut-kick perspective

– david a taylor

driving back
those same seven hours
inspired
but tired of the distance
our circle is a good scene
seen too sparsely
i miss mine
and you miss yours
but together we hold on
the sky alive with energy
we head home
but not home

we discuss focus
we discuss getting shit done
a lull
a rut
has ended
and we are ready to move without moving
to craft what we have been seeing
but not living

those same seven hours
will stay
but our end will change

a simple test at the end of the drive
unexpected results
i am not ready
(they say you never are)
it doesn't seem real
(but sore and heavy for too long)
you are not ready
(but i guess we have to be)
i am happy excited lost unprepared teary-eyed needing to read
(we'll be fine)
our support back home
support is home
i guess the drives have an end date
