1 Corinthians, 13:3-8

– david a taylor

Disgust and confusion
fight like anger wihtin me
I seek out a reason
and find there is none
that I understand
How can you stay with him?
Bile chokes my breath

As he flees from his eyes
and reflective understanding
he beats all in his path,
befriends none but his rage
Yet you hand there abused
clinging to nothing
but jealousy, frustration
sickness and hate

Oh, I'm sure he will love you
if you worship and wash him
if you keepyour mouth closed
until your tongue is demanded
He needs the control
Without he is nothing
compensating his insecurity
by breaking your will

My ears bleed from listening
I cannot comprehend
Do you like being bullied
and stripped of your friends
And you're so smart and sensitive
I see you understand
But you're hurt and wasted
by this excuse for a man

What tempts you to this unhappiness
holds your soul here again
You'd be better off by yourself,
with yourself, not controlled in pain
She loves you dear, as you do her
you wish each other well
So do yourself a favour
and leave that boy alone in hell
